Why can't we ship to California?

 

On September 30, 2010, the governor of California signed into law California AB2398. The law requires that carpet manufacturers either individually or through a carpet stewardship organization to have a carpet stewardship program approved by the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery to be able to sell carpet in the State of California. For the past several years, Berkshire Flooring along with many other carpet manufacturers have been members of the Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE)  group and have been able to sell products under their approved Carpet Stewardship Plan.

 

On May 9, 2017 we received notice that CARE's Carpet Stewardship Plan for 2017-2021 had been rejected. Until such time as a new plan can be approved, we are unable to sell our products in the State of California. The full text of the law can be read at the following link:
