Beautiful Floors Made Simple

Waste Savings

The first reason to use carpet tile is the significant reduction in waste materials.  Compared to a typical broadloom carpet installation, our residential carpet tiles save on average 20-30% in waste.

Oddly shaped rooms are no problem with carpet tile, where one would typically find high waste in carpet rolls, our tile can provide a beautiful seamless floor with far less material.

On the right a material estimation for a typical two bedroom apartment is provided in both traditional broadloom and carpet tile.  See for yourself the difference in waste!

Ease of Care

We’ve all had it happen; a spill, a pet accident, you name it, and of course it is right before company is coming!  You’re down on your hands and knees scrubbing trying to get the spot to come out and at best you still end up with a big wet area when your guests arrive…

Carpet tile to the rescue!  If Corky has a little accident, no worries, pull the tile out and replace it with a spare or even one from the back of a closet.  Your friends will never know the difference.  After your guests leave, you can clean that spot with warm water.

With the benefit of inherently stain resistant fiber, your tile should look brand new again.  Replace it and keep your spare tile around for your next emergency!

Selective Replacement and Traffic Remediation

Carpet wears over time and becomes less resilient in high traffic areas.  Even though our product is constructed with a high twist rate and will show signs of traffic significantly less than traditional broadloom, there may come a time where you begin to see traffic lanes.

Typically, this would mean that it is time to replace your carpet.  With carpet tile, this is not the case.  It is not time to get out the check book, merely the time to play Carpet Tile Shuffle!

By rotating tiles in and out of the traffic lanes, your entire floor will get its full use.  At this time, damaged and excessively soiled tiles can be replaced on a selective basis.

Moisture Barrier Backing

With Berkshire Flooring’s proven moisture barrier backing, those mysterious reappearing spots are no more.  When liquids are spilled on traditional broadloom, the liquid seeps down into the backing, the pad, and even the subfloor.  When you clean the surface of the carpet, the carpet appears to come clean.  Over time, however, the liquid wicks back up through the backing and reappears on the surface.

The moisture barrier provided with our carpet tile keeps spills on the surface.  When the spot is cleaned, it is cleaned for good!

Ease of Installation

Carpet tile is significantly easier to install than traditional broadloom.  It is easy to carry, no banging up your walls, doors, or base molding.  It is easy to cut, just a simple carpet razor knife will cut through our backing.  There is no kicking, stretching, taping of seams, nailing of tack strip, etc.  And most importantly, you can do it yourself!

Berkshire carpet tile is a simple peel and stick, one step process.  There are no special tools required, just a straight edge and a good knife.  An installation video is provided to the right for your reference.  Additional installation instructions are provided in the technical resources section.

Price

Carpet tile may not seem like your lowest priced option at first glance, but run through all of the hidden costs.  When you’re looking at traditional broadloom in the store, the price that is listed is the per square foot material cost.

Let’s say for example you have a 2,000 square foot home, if the price is $1.50 per square foot, your new carpet should cost $3,000, right?  Wrong!  With broadloom, you have to buy enough material to include waste (usually 20-30%), tack strip, seam tape, and pad as well.  Additionally, you will want a professional installer to put it in for you.  Your $3,000 price all of a sudden is closer to $5,000!

With carpet tile, however, the price you see is the price you pay.  You can install it yourself, there are no extras needed.    Even if you choose to hire a professional to install your carpet for you, there is no pad, tack strip or seam tape, and installation time is about 50% faster!
